Hands on LEARNING thru PLAY for Boys & Girls!
Thurs. August 7th from 3-6 pm
FREE EVENT for UR Little One to learn about Building & Engineering!
FREE EVENT!  Join us for an AFTERNOON of HANDS ON CREATIVITY, ENGINEERING, and IMAGINATION! BOYS and GIRLS are invited to come create with ROOMINATE! Have your little one LEARN as they PLAY!

On Thurs. 8/7 from 3-6 pm, drop by anytime! We invite your child and you to come and CREATE with ROOMINATE at Sports Basement Walnut Creek in the LOFT.

ROOMINATE is hosting this wonderful playdate and we want to invite you and the whole family to come on out and learn through hands on play. Let’s show you how it all works!

Through hands on play, we’ll have stations with modular building pieces so they can build whatever their heart desires, a station to build furniture to add to their structures, another station where they will learn about motors, lights and circuits so they can make their structure come to LIFE while learning about the engineering that is involved and another station for them to decorate their creation.

Intro Talk and Welcome Chat will take place every hour at 3:15 pm, 4:15 pm, 5:15 pm.

Come build a structure, with stairs, a balcony, and even spiral staircases! Then design furniture, from bunk beds, ping pong tables and more! Then the best part about ROOMINATE is adding the working circuits, by wiring up everything from spinning windmills, to merry-go-rounds, even elevators and more to make it light up! We will also share a bit of history & how parts get made, with a station called “Roominate through the ages!”

EVENT COST: FREE! If your Child enjoys the product and so do you, ROOMINATE’S kits will be available for purchase on site so that your child can continue to develop their creativity and engineering savvy at HOME!  KITS are specially priced for today’s activity & u get bonus parts too!

Product will be available for purchase there if you want to take a kit home so your child can continue to create, learn and build!

Roominate, toys to inspire the next generation of innovation. Roominate is a wired building system for children that inspires creative learning and empowers innovative open-ended play. It develops skills crucial to future success in STEM: hands-on problem solving, spatial and fine motor skills, self-confidence, and creativity.
Roominate is an innovative combination of building, circuits, design, and creativity that allows for endless creations. Roominate kits come with modular building pieces and motor and light circuits that kids can wire up to create spinning windmills, carousels, and lamps! With Roominate, kids can build anything they can imagine: dollhouses, schools, amusement parks, and more.

Roominate teaches through hands-on play. Every kit is completely open-ended, which encourages girls to learn by doing. Every child makes something completely unique with Roominate, from the golden gate bridge, to spinning car washes, even a rocket ship!

With Roominate, every child is an inventor. You can see the breadth of ideas here:

Kids love Roominate because they can build anything they want. Parents and teachers love Roominate because they know that kids are learning as they play. It’s completely open-ended and kids are coming up with things we never would have dreamed of!

Check Out a great example of kids building!

This Month: “If I Stay” by Gayle Forman
SYNOPSIS:When 17-year-old Mia wakes up on a snowy morning, her family celebrates their unexpected holiday with chocolate chip pancakes. As her mother, father and little brother Teddy plan what to do with their time off from work and school, Mia looks in the newspaper for news about her boyfriend Adam’s band. She is planning to go to their concert that night, but she also wants to practice her cello with a pianist. Mia is a passionate and gifted cellist who is fairly confident that her recent audition has gained her an acceptance from Juilliard, based on comments from one of the judges. But today, with her cello at school and unavailable, she has some time on her hands.Mia’s family decides to go for a ride. They can visit old family friends, stop by an enormous bookstore, and then swing by to eat dinner with Mia’s grandparents. In the car, each family

member battles for his or her favorite music to play on the stereo.

Then everything changes as they go on a drive.

Mia — the one lying in a coma in an ICU bed — is in serious condition, with a collapsed lung, ruptured spleen, internal bleeding, and damage to her brain. As the doctors work to repair her shattered body, the conscious Mia reminisces about her life and watches her grandparents and other relatives visit her. Mia learns further devastating news about the consequences of the car accident. She also realizes that she has a pivotal decision to make — her own life or death choice. With so many overwhelming tragedies and tremendous setbacks, her life will never be remotely the same. Is it worth struggling to re-enter life and live it? Should she stay…or should she go?

IF I STAY, Gayle Forman’s outstanding debut novel, is an emotionally gripping story. As readers follow Mia’s life after the accident, we also learn via plentiful flashbacks about her life before tragedy struck. Her colorful, vibrant family members are recalled so vividly that they could step off the page — and break our hearts. Her remembrances highlight Mia’s romance with her boyfriend and her passion for her music. Readers will find her predicament absorbing, and the book’s climax poignant and satisfying.
